New network

| | Comments (10)

Most of the networks around my house are called "Relix," and I can't really remember where that came from. I remember Pete or Javi mentioning it at one point, but I'm not sure if they made it up or stole it from somewhere else.

The point is, it's largely meaningless to me. Boooring.

Pending my move to Seattle1, I'm going rename my network.

Any suggestions? Asinine comments are welcome, as I really have no way of keeping you from making them.

1 Yes, I usually just hit images.google with the subject in question.

P.S.
I'm retiming this post so it appears at the top of the page all the time. I'm hoping to get some feedback on this...and my average post velocity has a tendency to push things off the front page extremely quickly. I intend to fix this with a forumesque sticky feature (probably implemented as a category), but I don't really have the time for that at the moment.

P.P.S.
Comments seem to be broken, for the moment. It's on my list of things to fix. Comments are fixed. And since you've come to the extended page, why not leave one?

Relix was one of the newsgroup names that Vik had, and that we all conformed to, at one of ye olde LAN Parties.

I suggest you name the network after that british guy who spent 10-15 years designing his revolutionary vacuum cleaner that sucks at 90 times the force of gravity...

Sorry_de_Snorry_Betsy

I think rob means, "Dyson," which is a surprisingly cool name. Somewhat uncool, though, to name something like that after someone who is still alive. Weird how that works.

Egypt, on the other hand, may just mean, "Seeeeeg."

Also: names that suck are cool, as are names that blow. Names that both simultaneously suck and blow are awarded bonus points.

Regardless of what you name the network ("Kabelsalat" would be neat) you need to have a user "root" with the password "override" on all machines. Because that is really leet.

ZeroCool would be a great name, or AcidBurn. The campy factor on either one alone is more than enough justification.

Asinine is a cool word....mmmyes it is...

"Ociffer"

as in:
"What seems to be the problem, Ociffer? *hic*"

Skillet or your_pussy because what else would my_johnson be connected to?

Well, I'm officially letting this post slide off the mainpage. I particularly like Rob's "ZeroCool" suggestion. w00t!
