Sub-Alfa

I haven't really talked about cars in a while. So everybody hold on to your butts.

Today I'm going to mention, briefly, the new Subaru B9 Tribeca. I've actually seen a couple of these around and got to sit in one at the mall the other day. I must admit—the interior was underrepresented and surprisingly spartan for a new vehicle. I'm unsure of the pricing, but it seemed downscale from the presumably similarly positioned but uncompromisingly unattractive Nissan Murano.

The point here is that the Tribeca is poorly appointed but more attractive. And infinitely better named.

But whatever. Here it is.

Why, that's quite handsome. I actually think I'd like to buy that car. I'm awestruck with how much I like the taillights.

Oh wait, that's why. It's a giant ripoff of the Alfa 166.

You all may remember the 166 from my rant on Alfa Romeos a few months ago.

Anyway, I suppose the looks could just be coincidental. These are completely different cars in completely different markets, and there's nothing to say they can't share a set of taillights.

To clear this up, let's just look at the fronts.

Oh well, nevermind. It's difficult to say that's a coincidence.

HOT!!!

<disclaimer>I don't know what I am talking about</disclaimer>I think the Tribeca is in the 30k range

Oh, and the Alfa is still sexier!

The thing is also reminiscent of a Mazda 3 HB. Perhaps it should be called the Subaru Malfa 366?

er... at least it looks like the 3 from the ass end. And really, that's all that counts, as I don't like the front much at all. The alfa looks a hell of a lot better from the front.

I agree—it looks a lot like the 3 from the back. I suppose, however, that the tweaked rear window is something of a trend at the moment. The Merc ML class and the Lexus RX300 (Toyota Harrier for those of you in SUNNY JAPAN!!!) popularized the look in the late 1990s and it's caught on a number of places now; the Tribeca and Murano both have the same look.

But anyway—the Tribeca and the 3 are styled very similarly. It's all in the details.
