Some of you may remember the last Eurotrip I went on. Amongst many other (nameless) reasons, the single biggest source of stress during those two fun-filled weeks was a lack of planning.
I remember making a sort of unspoken promise to plan fully and completely next time before actually leaving home to attempt to avoid the clusterfuck sure to ensue otherwise.
Clearly, I've broken my unspoken promise.
The problem is the rental car.
We need a car from tomorrow for four days or so, preferrably with a dropoff in Granada or Seville. But, today is a Friday, which means almost everyone is out of cars, especially the ones with dropoffs in other cities.
I should probably explain that in contrast to the US, where the rental car industry is largely dominated by fewer than a dozen national chains, Spain features many much smaller local agencies. In Nerja, for example, there were visibly two or three "national" looking chains out of around a dozen shops...and this is in a town of a few thousand people. Yowza.
Nevertheless, we were able to find a local agency that permits dropoff in Málaga—so we'll drive to Granada and Sevilla and then I'll drive alone back to Málaga before my flight.
