There are a number of things I'm planning on doing post-trip this time to put a sort of picture-and-blog-tastic wrapper on things. Specifically:
- Backfill all my blog entries. The current plan is to do these at a rate of one-a-day or quicker, so this should be done pretty swiftly. Cross your fingers. While writing the posts, I plan on inserting really notable pictures of things that I'm specifically discussing.
- Sort and clean the pictures to pull out the duds. This is probably going to take a few days. I brought back 1492 pictures on the X's Drive and next week Layla is likely to bring back a bunch more—up to around 200.
- Identify the good pictures, title all of them, and annotate some of them. This is by far the most time-consuming, and I suspect this will take me the better part of a month.
- Make a gallery á la EU2004 photolog. Once the pictures are titled and annotated, this involves making some pretty graphics. Fun!
If there's one spot I'm likely to get stuck, it's actually titling the pictures. I'm much more likely to actually get all of that done if I don't post the galleries until I'm finished with them (like last time), so it may be a few weeks until this gets posted.
Do note that unlike last time, I don't have to go through and build a bunch of Perl scripts to manage the gallery. I'll be rotating everything by hand (instead of building a list file) and don't have to do any time stamp correction (amen!) I will be using the scripts to generate the galleries—but all the machinery for that already exists.
All in all, I don't expect this will take as long as it did last year—which is a good thing, because it took 3 months. Yowza.
