I gush about Autologic a lot. Not only are they not paying me to gush, I don't even get any kickbacks of any sort, really. They're just really nice guys and it's fantastic to see that sort of thing nowadays. Most people would stop at the point of saying that they have good service, but I genuinely enjoy doing business with Good People™.
My commentary here is split into two parts: the first is a status update on the car and what cools things Autologic is doing for me, and the second is just why they're awesome in the first place.
The guys over at Autologic have told me that even though they're going to send my BMW to "Strictly BMW" here in town, they're nevertheless willing to foot the bill for the special tools to fix it themselves. Even if picking up the tools does make good business sense (it likely doesn't—it's a special tool for a fairly rare engine), it's nevertheless nice that they'd go out of their way to do it.
The other point I was going to make was that Frank, the owner of the shop, gave me a ride to the office when I dropped the car off, and we had a discussion about a number of things—including flying. It turns out that Frank is a pilot and was able to give me some great pointers on where and where not to fly here in western Washington. Additionally, he also mentioned that if I wanted to go fly out at the airport where he normally operates, that he'd be willing to take me out there and show me around. Well damn, that's pretty awesome.
I may just take him up on it—and only because he seems like a really nice guy. There's nothing wrong with finding a way to fit more nice people in my life.
