We go through a lot of logs

Layla and I go through a lot of logs lately. We didn't used to—although admittedly, it didn't used to be quite as buttass cold. Now that it's frigid as all hell, we usually burn through a log a night.

We've been using the prepressed logs instead of real wood because I suspect that the wood logs will soot a bunch more than the pressed ones and it's a pain in the ass for us to store a bunch of wood in a dry place. The only place we have for wood is out on the deck, and it rains there all the time.

So just to give you an idea, we go through around 30 logs a month—yeah, that's about one a day. We used to pay $24/case for 6 3-hour "off brand" brand logs. Thankfully, we found that Target sells Duraflame logs (which light even easier and last longer) 4-hour logs for $15/6.

But still, this means we're blowing over $60/month in logs. So maybe we'll try regular wood—presuming we can even find it in this state. It seemed like every grocery store in New Mexico has at least one 1971 Ford F-100 fully loaded with about two or three tons of firewood in the back...but here in Washington, the closest thing I've seen to a bunch of wood in an ancient truck is a group of yuppies sporting wooden stares in the back of the original Starbucks location, which was, incidentally, founded in 1971.

It's log, it's log, it's better than bad ...

it's good!

I hear that starbucks furniture burns really nicely...

At first I thought you were talking about computer logs, then I realized I was mistaken. Silly me.

You can get logs for about half that price at...Costco! Hiiii-ya!

Actually I was wrong. You can get 9 logs for about $17 at Costco - so it's cheaper than Target but not half as cheap. Shippy also said somebody should spend about $250/yr at Costco for the membership to be worth it.
