Why Oregon is dumb

Oregon (and New Jersey) are dumb states because unless you work for a gas station, you're not allowed to pump your own gas.

I've heard a lot of different reasons why this is—and I'm not sure that any one of them provides enough of a compelling reason on their own. For example, I've heard that it's to increase safety at gas stations, to provide jobs to either the lower class or to middle-class teenagers, and to keep gentlemen and ladies of the royal court from spilling the most odious of petrol onto their cravats and lacen underdrawers. Indeed, Oregon and New Jersey challenge the progressive notion of class equivalency by clearly spelling out that there are some people that should be required to perform the unpleasant task of gas pumping, even if the customer is more than able to do it himself.

I bring up this whole mess because Layla and I had to purchase fuel in Oregon and the lady hastily walking out from the gas station had to inform us that, "this is Oregon! This is Oregon!" She then commented that, "I love J.R. too. Do you watch Dallas? I'm from Dallas."

I presume this was in response to my shirt, which reads: "I [gun] JR"
