I bought an MP3 player about six weeks ago. I've taken it to the gym nearly every morning since then (with the exception of the last two weeks when I was, ahem, sick) and in that time, I've formed the following conclusions:
- The buttons really are too small. I've got the player in a rubbery case (provided by the manufacturer) and it's still difficult to work the controls. Then again, I think the controls on my Optio are too small, too...but I've still taken something like 8,000 shots with it.
- The screen can only display a few filenames at a time. Scrolling through folders is really painful.
It can't play files in order. That's right. It pulls the files out of the FAT as they're listed in there—and unfortunately, you can't control that order, even if you copy the files in sequentially. So there's really no way to get the files to play in order. So, it turns out that the DAH-1500i simply doesn't alphabetize past the first N (6, I think) characters in the filename. Until mobiBLU updates the firmware (last drop on their website is from 2005.08) I can just rename all my files so the track number isn't in the middle of the filename.
- The FM reception may not be so hot. It's hard to tell because I've only been tuning in to the local transmitters for the TVs in the gym, but all of those come in heavily staticized. Bummer.
So, yeah. Would I buy it again? Probably not. OK, maybe—but only because I read about the track sorting workaround.

Behold the glory of the iPod.
They actually did some user interface testing prior to pushing it out to the market.
Yeah...I have to admit that they did get that part right.
