I'm going snowboarding tomorrow

If memory serves correctly, I've been skiing exactly twice in the past. Once was when I was 12 and resulted in skiing into the fence at the bottom of the bunny hill. Once was when I was in college, and resulted enough damage that my left knee still clicks from the incident.

So how did I get talked into going snowboarding this weekend? Well, it went something like this:

"Hey Dan, do you want to go snowboarding this weekend?"

"Shit yeah!"

In any event, it seems like this was exactly the right time to go shopping for snowboarding gear—I got some sweet pants at almost 60% off retail and an awesome1 hat for $10. There may be a reason why nobody shops at the, err, end of the season.

So if you see a post from me tomorrow afternoon, it's likely that I've still got both of my hands attached. I'm looking forward to keeping as many limbs as possible...but I have to admit that I've just about written off the legs by now.

1 Awesome may be subjective.

Take some advice from someone who has been snowboarding exactly twice: When you fall, and you will, fall on your elbows and not your wrists. If you fall backwards on your wrists, you're likely to break your arm. If you fall forwards, you'll just strain both of your forearms and they'll cramp up like a @#*%! for a week. It's no fun. Fall on the elbows.

Roger that. The elbows have been moved to the front lines of the fight against gravity.

I'll also be sporting an awesome-cool bike helmet to keep my brain from fragmenting further.

Any other tips before I go careening down the mountain?
