Somewhere during the recent move, Comcast neglected to move my account information along with the cable modem information to the new address—so earlier today, when they shut off service at the old place, our access went out. This cascaded a bunch of work for me like recloning the router's MAC to the network card in Layla's computer, reworking my DNS entries, and unplugging and plugging routers and modems until all the right lights go on in all the right orders. This isn't a huge deal, but it (and the ensuing MT problems, listed below) amounted to 45 minutes that I would rather have spent elsewhere.
On top of all of this, someone upstream is caching my old home.milkmandan.org DNS entry—which usually isn't a problem, except that the Movable Type config seems to require it somewhere...so trying to load up their web-based UI is exceedingly painful as it has to time out on all the style sheets. It's ... pleasant.
I'll get back to "real" posting tomorrow, just because I'm already worn out from this nonsense.
Update: it turns out that MT's Save button requires JavaScript which wasn't loading. So until my DNS entries get properly axed, this whole post is sitting in a text file on my desktop.
