The 1956 Crown Imperial

| | Comments (2)

The reason that Layla and I were in New Mexico was a wedding, and the limo at the wedding was a 1956 Crown Imperial.

Very nice choice.

I tried to talk to the driver about the car but all I was able to squeeze out of him was that he'd owned it for 28 years. I suspect that he gets hit by questions everywhere he takes the damned thing and that somewhere around year 3 or 4, the questions stop being interesting.

I heard later that someone asked him if the car was a, "1965 Lincoln," and he said, "yep, it is!"

Ahem.

GORGEOUS car. Those are pretty rare, too. I think Ghia built the cars for Chrysler.

Ryan-
The Wikipedia article notes that the 1955 and 1956 models were built by Chrysler, but that 1957–1965 models were, in fact, bodied by Ghia.

But it looks like this was one of only 226 1956s. Wow.
