I spent all day today at the novice school hosted by the local SCCA chapter. I took advantage of this because it gave me lots of exposure to top-notch autocrossers (guys like Alan Dahl and Dieter Beldi, both amazing drivers) and also because I got a ton of seat time. Over the course of the day, I got a total of 10 runs in—which is far more than nearly any regular autocross.
Highlights:
- Watching Manuel knock ten seconds off between his first lap and his 10th
- Getting told by one last year's Pro Solo national champions (no, I'm really not kidding) that my driving was "excellent." Rockin'.
- Watching a national champion run my car around the track and best my lap times by a good six seconds—and then besting his time by another 1.5s.
- Running over all of my stuff first thing in the morning.
- Breaking my car (a little).
And now, I'm really damned tired. Really damned tired.
