Regular readers of my journal may remember that I've painted a few cars and that I've said many times that I've had enough of it.
Unfortunately, I'm a giant liar, and I spent a healthy chunk of Saturday sanding out a giant hail dent in the hood of the Mercedes (put there, I'll have you, before we got it) and repainting it. Since it was fairly heavily pitted with rust, I sanded out most of what I could and then slathered a healthy dollop of rust converter on the rest. Man, that rust converter sure is foul stuff—but it's vital to keep rust from spreading underneath the paint.
Later came the paint—and of course, masking, courtesy of IEEE Communications magazine. Thanks, IEEE.

I am having a carburetor nightmare with my 1970 250 sedan. Can you provide some suggestions? Thanks! (June 16, 2006)
What's the problem you're having with your Mercedes, Mark?
