A new heater motor is how much?

| | Comments (7)

The blower motor doesn't work on the Mercedes. Before I start pulling everything apart, I figured I'd check how much a replacement would be—if it's less than $50, I figure I'll go ahead and replace it anyway even if it isn't busted. I'm sure the old one is megafunky.

It turns out that a replacement is over $500. This actually isn't too surprising, but it sure is ... a lot of money.

I have a same problem.Do you know the procedure of getting to the blower motor.I have all the literature including Mercedes service manual.
All i want to know -do i have
to remove a dash board like on modern cars or there is access from the hood.

Alex-
I don't remember whether or not the entire dash must be removed.

I'm out of the state at the moment, but will take a look at my repair manual once I'm back in town sometime tomorrow. Blower motor access is something I'd like to know about, too.

The Haynes manual I've got wasn't too specific, but from what I gather, the dashboard and console must first be removed before the blower motor can be accessed.

Really need to remove dashnoard ???
Answer please !

As far as I can tell, yes, it's required. The Haynes manual I've got fairly clearly indicates that the dashboard needs to be removed to take the blower motor out. Of course, Haynes manuals have been wrong in the past, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there's an easier way to do it.

Unfortunately, no, I don't have any good sources for this diagram. I have the US model, and the manual I have addresses the US model (also with air conditioning).

I recommend the MBCA forums. It's possible that someone there has experience with the Euro W114/8 and W115/8.
