Spam threshold turned up

| | Comments (2)

Over the last six hours, I've gotten 400-some-odd spam comments on this journal. Lovely.

Movable Type assigns a "-1" for comments posted from a blacklisted IP but also assigns a "+1" for including a previously-published email address. Previously, I was publishing all comments with a legitimacy rating of 0 or above, so if a spam engine got one comment in before its IP got blacklisted, it would get the rest through, too.

I've turned up the cranks a bit so comments aren't going to get published as easily as they were.

P.S. Sorry about the picture. Yuck.

That's exactly the reason why I switched from MT over to LJ. The spam is unbearable.

That was quite a while ago, wasn't it?

I've found that if you stay on top of the spam, it never really gets all that terrible.

It did take a while for me to figure out a system for cleaning out crap and publishing the false positives, though.
