Even considering today, when two of the big three automakers are hanging on to their lives, and all three are barely treading water in terms of making reasonable cars, I don't think there's ever been a darker age for American auto manufacturers than the late 1970s. Nearly everything Detroit was responsible for during those years was shapeless and uninteresting. This works out well, because the book of ads that Rob got me focuses almost exclusively on those embarrassing years.
So, on to the subject at hand: does anyone even remember the Dodge Aspen? Forget it being novel or notable—did the damned thing really even exist?
Also, I particularly like the ad copy that reads, "Check your Dealer for availability details." Who capitalizes "Dealer?" Agh.

I contest that you, your self wrote that wikipedia article and that the Dodge Aspen does not actually exist.
Oh man, I wish. The Aspen wikipedia article is totemic in its depth of detail and complete irrelevancy.
You still shouldnt rule out the possibility that it never existed... I have yet to see a non-cartoon/drawn image of said Dodge.
Also, I'm now intreeged by the thought of inventing an entire wiki for a car that never existed.
Sorry, chief.
