In the latest much-overdue installment of my bonsai series, I'm glad to announce that I've finally picked up a tray and some seeds. In fact, I've got a whole bonsai kit—mostly because it was on sale at Barnes & Noble and because Layla and I still had an unused gift certificate from Christmas 2005. Thanks again, parents and siblings. Note: not the one pictured.
The problem is that the first kit we got seemed to include everything ... except the seeds. So on another trip to the bookstore today (this time to get some Italian CDs for the commute) we snagged a seeds-included bonsai kit.
I don't think it's the world's most sophisticated bonsai set and, to be completely honest, I'll be damned surprised if I can get anything whatsoever to grow. But hey, it's a start.

Hah, I bought Nina one of those Bonsai Potato kits once... she loved it.
