It snowed today. The roads are an absolute disaster.
In comparison to major rains, which generally clog the major highways and arteries that run adjacent to them, the snows back up all roads. So even though the bulk of SR-520 and I-405 had cleared before Layla and I tackled them at 8pm, it still took us nearly two hours to get home.
And this, mind you, was even after generous use of my knowledge of local back roads. Had we stuck to the main streets, it probably would have taken an additional hour.
...and come to think of it, we aren't even completely home yet, really. The car is actually sitting a block away in a church parking lot because it had taken us 30 minutes to move the few hundred feet along 100th Ave. that we couldn't avoid. Instead of waiting another 30 or 45 minutes to crawl forward toward the apartment, we opted to park and walk—and later tonight I get to wander back to get the car so it's drivable in the morning.
Lovely.
