Awesome, are people shuffling around now to new groups and what-not?

Oddly, not really. The only people doing anything of the sort are the guys who have been around for 15+ years and are retiring to their yachts made entirely from Swarovski crystals.

Anyone who's been fed up with all the work left a long time ago. Everyone who's left realizes that the really cool stuff happens when planning a new OS, so they're likely to stick around until halfway between now and the next OS we kick out. Whenever that is.

It's probably not "done", as much as it's out the door. Maintenance is a bitch, you know?

Or do other groups do that?

Your blog software mangled my comment. Imagine two newlines (\n\n, or \r\n\r\n if you like) between "you know?" and "Or".

Bill-

Nope, we're R&D. Maintenace is handled by another team, although we pitch in occasionally if necessary. Except for some last-minute handoff work, my team really is done with Vista.

And the newline stripping is done by the plugin you requested months ago. I've been meaning to pull it out for a while now but haven't yet gotten around to it.

I have a job which requires me to do numerous things throughout the day via internet, such as check for updates on your blog. Will there be any changes that will affect the way I do this? Is there anything that you did with the OS that will be obvious to the rest of the world? Like when your download is complete, does it play "I'm Proud to be Alabama-man?"

  1. Yes. RSS is now heavily integrated into the OS. IE can be used to track RSS feeds.
  2. Well, anytime you go to Start->Network, it involves my code. Same with People Near Me and Network projector. And similarly, if you use a WSD printer, scanner, camera, media renderer, router, etc. (the list goes on and on) then it's also using my stack.
  3. "I'm proud to be Alabama Man, even though I cannot read."

Alabama Man comes with a six-pack and bowling ball. Mrs. Alabama Man comes with a black eye.

Whats this I hear about Vista already being hacked?

Raven-

Not really sure. The biggest "vulnerability" is the Blue Pill virtualization attack—but it's not really an attack as much as a way of covering your tracks once you've already compromised the system...and it certainly isn't new.

Any pointer to what's been hacked?
