Power out

| | Comments (0)

This morning we, much like nearly a million other residents of the greater Puget Sound region, woke up without power.

It turns out that record winds swept through the area and took down trees, power poles, and a whole lot else.

Now, Layla and I have been listening to the small battery-powered radio that I purchased a while back so I could listen to NPR while working on the car. It's a fantastic little Sony unit that can pick up audio from the usual VHF and UHF TV channels, so we've been primarily listening to the news.

The biggest problem right now is that it's cold. We've got enough hot water for showers, although I'm not sure how long that's going to last—I think the thermostat that controls the gas flow on the water heater is, in fact, an electric unit. Lovely.
