Idiocy + money = ???

Pardon my YouTube.

The short version: some yahoo in his Cessna Citation jet tries to land at an airport that's closed to jet traffic.

And that's not even the dumbest thing he did that day. It's a long video, but gets really good around the 0:30 and 2:15 marks.

For those of you born with the aviation gene, more details are available here.

WOW! That's incredibly stupid of that guy. I wonder what he was trying to accomplish by running the engine in the water. Something tells me that physics isn't his strong point.

Indeed.

Apparently one of the guys I work with used to fly out of the same airport as this guy. The Citation owner in the video landed himself in a pile of cash after selling his business, got his license, and bought the Citation—which he mostly flies VFR.

He also bought an island in a bird sanctuary and installed an airstrip, but the Danish wildlife protection agency shut him down.

There's also, ahem, another shot of this guy.

Stupid things you can do with money. I wonder if there are any others like him out there....

See: anyone sporting a Corvette and plasma TV while living in a trailer park and visiting the payday loan company weekly. The stupidest ones don't ever seem to make it to the point of extravagance.

Or as Layla puts it, "there's far less innovation in stupidity than one would hope."
