The 1930 Stutz SV-16

| | Comments (0)

This is the grille on a 1930 Stutz SV-16.

The picture is notable because it's one of the least fuzzy that I took yesterday at the LeMay Museum.

The car is notable because ... well, primarily because it's old. It's got a big Stutz straight-8 in the front end—although that isn't what you'd expect, because the badge reads SV-16. It turns out that Stutz worked its badging so the numberic part of the model name indicated the number of valves on the engine, instead of the number of cylinders. Thus, the SV-16 sounded nearly as classy as a Cadillac V-16 despite having only half as many holes in the block.
