"It's like a snake swallowing a cucumber"

I can't recall exactly where I heard the above quote, but it's been used to describe the Boeing 747 LCF, an enlarged plane used to haul the composite fuselage sections of the 787. Although you can't really tell from this photograph, a 747 LCF overflew our townhouse a few days ago and made so much racket that I ran outside to snap a picture. We typically get a fair amount of traffic in the pattern for KSEA, but the LCF was assuredly headed for the Boeing plant up in Everett, just north of here—which explains why it was flying so much lower.

The 747 LCF pictured above is the latest in a long line of oversized aircraft designed for hauling other aerospace parts. Ahh, the glory days of Moving Big Things™.
