I haven't talked much about the upcoming wedding (I'm saving that, ahem, for after we move) but since we're planning on having the reception at the house, it's going to be necessary to install a walkway along the side of the garage and into the back yard before the event happens. Right now it's a rooty muddy mess.
Installing a walkway is nontrivial, but it isn't exactly rocket science, either. In this case, I think the biggest difficulty is going to be to dig a trench for the pavers ("bricks," but with beveled edges) through the hard-packed soil. I'll have to remove loads of roots—not only to clear enough space to put down the walkway, but also to trim them back enough to ensure they won't encroach on the flat surface for at least a decade or so.
Once the soil has been removed (down two inches or so for the entire area of the walkway), the space needs to be tamped, flattened, and properly graded&mdahs;at which point a layer of sand can be laid down and pavers can be lovingly installed. Add more sand, and voilé.
Additionally, the gate will likely need to be trimmed, and there will assuredly be a whole host of drainage issues to solve. But however this ends, it's going to involve me and a shovel.

Where is the property line?
In your butt.
Hahaha, seriously. It cuts across the left third of the photo—you can see where the fence changes from a grey color (along the right side) to a ... darker grey (on the left). That's where the fences meet and where the property line is drawn.
