You may have noticed today that the /dev/null server was down—due in no small part to the complete lack of electrical power in the house.
We had our crappy old Zinsco panel replaced today with the shiny new 200A unit pictured at right. It's difficult to tell from the pictures in the last post and the one above, but this new panel is way bigger than the old one and provides more than enough expansion for me to put whatever manner of ridiculous lighting equipment wherever I want.
It turns out that even though our service meter was already a 200A unit, the box it was mounted in wasn't actually capable of accepting the big fattie electrical lines required to pull 200A from the weather head down to the meter. So we had to get a new box—but at least we didn't have to get the meter changed out.
And now we've got power again.
P.S. The title of this post comes from the name of the company that did the electrical work. Absolute Power! Bahaha

I wonder if they are in competition with Real Ultimate Power?
Well, they clearly best the guys at Penultimate Power.
