There's an outlet in the garage used for a clothes washer hookup, but the damned thing is falling halfway out of the wall and it doesn't appear to work.
It turns out that this was the problem: a blurry photograph of unconnected wires. The wiring ran from the outlet, up the wall, into the attic, and then nowhere.
So I ran some new wiring into an, ahem, handy box, across the attic, and out to the service panel, where I installed another breaker. End-to-end, the whole process took just under three hours, which is entirely too long for this sort of thing unless you haven't ever done this before—which I haven't.
I've got a handful of other exciting pictures, too: here's the new ladder I bought which is almost exactly too tall for my garage. 8' gets me onto the roof without any difficulty whatsoever, but it also barely clears the ceiling, and assuredly won't work inside the house.
This last one is kindof confusing—apparently someone nailed a jagged piece of pipe to one of the rafters. I've got no idea why it's there, but due to the toll it's taken on my body, I now call it The Shininator.
