The phone on my camera goes "click, whirr" every time I take a photo.
My understanding is that this is so you can't secretly take photos with your phone—which, I also hear, is something of a problem in Japan. Whether this is simply a gentlemen's agreement between phone manufacturers or an actual law (I've heard both), it's the way things are.
At some point, there are more of these camera phones making these noises than there are actual film cameras left to make them. I'm guessing this has already happened—but I've got no numerical evidence to back that up.
I have to wonder how long we're going to hang on to the already-anachronism of the noises of camera shutters and film advances.

My camera phone allows me to choose which sound it makes, or to make it silent. Might check your settings so you dont have to listen to your phone take pictures.
My old SGH-T809 allowed me to set a sound other than the shutter/advance noise. Similarly, my older Nokias let me switch the noise off entirely.
My newer SGH-T629 doesn't give me the option to change or mute the noise. It's always click/advance.
