Since I put up the posts this last weekend, this is technically a post-post post.

I've actually just removed the bracing 2x4s from the posts, so they're all free-standing now.

Looks like you might have some drainage issues if you build the fence all the way to the ground. (juding by the slop of the ground in the pic.)

One good Seatle rain latter and one mans fence could become another mans raft.

True, I won't be building the entire way to the ground. The design that I'm matching has an inch or two underneath, which is enough room to keep the serious debris from building up.

We also don't get very serious rain here—it's a lot of drizzle, but most of that is absorbed into the ground instead of running off. We don't get the huge flash flood scenarios that the southwest does.
