- Comcast's service was down all day last Wednesday.
- Our power flickered Monday night, taking down my cable modem.
- Comcast went out again Thursday night, ostensibly due to the massive windstorm.
- But that didn't matter, since the power flickered early Friday, taking out the cable modem.
- When it all came back, my IP had changed for the first time this year. The update is still working its way through the intertubes.
I suppose I could solve half of this problem with a UPS, but it won't save me from the cable connection when things get blustery. This is the trouble with living among the trees.

I was going to say that, "no, this happens without trees too," but now that I think about it I don't think that's true. We get outtages, but even in the most severe windstorm, we don't loose signal or power that often. So much for adding content.
The worst part is when we get trees across the lines. The morning when I wrote this post I noticed a big evergreen straddling the phone lines up the street. Our power, phone (unused), and cable all come in through overhead lines, so it's really susceptible to snapped limbs.
