Language barrier?

One of the terrestrial HD channels we receive is the local PBS affiliate's Spanish-language channel, V-me. And since we don't get much else in terms of broadcast television, lazy nights around the TV (like tonight) occasionally result in Layla and I watching shows in el-Spanish-o.

I can't understand a word, but Layla gets all of it and, if I'm lucky, will sometimes let me know approximately what's going on.

The funny thing is that the last show we watched on V-me (admittedly a month or two ago) was a Spanish-dubbed show originally produced in English, which was essentially some European house-rehabilitation show where they upgraded outdated Eurocarpets and Eurobath fixtures to something more recent. So I tried vainly to lipread the original English (or guess at Spanish vocabulary) and Layla would give me updates on it all.

The most amusing part? Non-verbal cues and attire made me suspect that two of the guests on that show were probably most comfortable in some language other than English. Like ... Spanish.
