The snow and the stupids

| | Comments (7)

Approximately once or twice each year, the sky falls on Seattle. Tonight is one of those nights1.

On days like this (and on the day afterward) I invariably have a bunch of conversations about the weather and the traffic, and many of them result in the other person commenting that the roads were filled with idiots.

Most interesting is that the rationale universally falls into exactly one of two categories:

  1. Everyone is an idiot because they're driving far too slowly, causing wrecks, or
  2. Everyone is an idiot because they're driving far too quickly, causing wrecks.

And there's never anything in-between, nor is there anything that mixes the two comments.

I've found that I'm not at all an expert in predicting who leans which way. Aside from the people who are just too obvious for their own good, my guesses are often completely wrong.

1 I realize it says only a half-inch of snow will fall. Do recall that Seattle is a slippery place, and a half-inch of snow is more than enough to make the roads slick with slush.

The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status, or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers.

Whatever man. I'm a better driver than all of them.

Hahaha....like beating people in AutoX with their OWN car.

Priceless.

Did I do that? I don't remember that being done to me, either.

Oh wait, except the time Layla kicked my ass. But that didn't really count since it's her car now, too.

I thought that you beat Rob with his Supra? I could have swore that was you.

Oh yeah maybe that was me.

Rob?
