Idempotency in the wet axis

| | Comments (4)

I'm annoyed that when I take clothes which are both wet and dirty, put them through the washer and dryer, and then remove them, they're still wet.

One of these two appliances is not doing its job.

  • The washer isn't soaking clothes enough for initially dry clothes to be indistinguishable from initially wet clothes.
  • The dryer isn't drying clothes enough for soaked clothes to be indistinguishable from merely wet clothes.

Shame on you both.

Oh no! Does that mean that one of them is really broken?

I'm pretty sure, no. Every other washer/dryer I've used has exhibited this behavior.

They wouldn't happen to be a washer/dryer combo from Socorro?

Have you tried setting the timer on the dryer to a longer setting, thus allowing said devise to better negotiate the soaked cloths and process them into dry cloths. Think of the dryer as a dude bro in the morning, pressing snooze on the alarm clock... "just 5 more minutes - thats all i need."

It's also possible that the density of your soaked articles exceeds the latent heat capacity of your drying unit. Think of the dryer as a box trying to dry only towels versus only lacy lingery... "I like drying your undies - their easy."
