I've had no success with the Porsche 914s here over the last few days, but something interesting caught my eye: a Volvo P1800ES.
The photo is one I had lying around from two and a half years ago.
Perhaps a Volvo P1800ES?

Oddly, Lotus came to exactly the same conclusion when they built the M100 Elan in the late 1980s.
The only difference is that Saab stuck to its FWD guns, while Lotus didn't.
