If you paid really close attention to the pedal post two weeks ago (closer than I, certainly), you would have noticed the placement of the fuse panel inside the 914.
As you can see in the photo above, it's positioned just below the dash to the left of the wheel. And since the car is only about 6" off the ground, it's less something you get into and more something you fall into.
Add this all up, and you'll see why I kicked a handful of fuses out of the holder while getting into my car earlier.
One other important piece of information is that the fuse holders bend downward to release their precious fusable contents. To be honest, it's a perfectly acceptable design as long as you don't lose the plastic cover that keeps the fuses from being vomited up onto the floor. But I'm guessing the cover was lost at a time when disco was still mainstream, so between then and now, it's just been an accident waiting to happen.

I noticed it, but only because it appeared to have the same oddball fuses that were used in my 2002.
It's all about being German and oddball. Same fuses on the Mercedes, too.
