Bus rider

| | Comments (2)

I've been taking the bus lately as I leave the Porsche parked in the garage pending diagnosis of a misfire at idle. Detangling a prior owner's mess of broken electrical connectors and freely vented vacuum hoses (???) has proven to be more time-consuming than originally anticipated.

But anyway, the bus. It's a little less convenient now as my new building is far further from the bus stop (5 minute walk) than the old one (across the street) but end-to-end the whole ride takes less than 20 minutes so it's still good.

The free bus pass benefit Microsoft affords is mondo awesome stuff.

Cummins just implimented a shuttle between buildings around Columbus, IN. The bad thing is that the routes suck. So, while most people go between the plant and the tech center, they have to ride past fuel systems or the central office building to get there, making a ~5 minute drive into a ~15 minute one. Last time they tried this it flopped, and cost the company about $20 per rider.

How far apart are the buildings? Microsoft is organized on a handful of campuses in the area, and although shuttles are available between most campuses, the fixed routes only cover the contiguous parts of campus.
