D'oh! :(
This is a brilliant move by MS, though, imo.
I think Amazon Unbox on the TiVo sucks and so, since I have a 360 in each room, hopefully this will be a better solution for me.
Sorry for the super spaciness of my post. I got happy with the BR tags.
Do you mean bleeding edge? Leading edge has to do with airplanes I think?
Shippy-
Absolutely brilliant! Let's hope that makes the stock price move.
I haven't used Unbox. Does it really suck all that much?
Bonnie-
"Leading edge" was indeed originally coopted from aerospace terminology to refer to the latest technology.
Only later was it ... uhh, modified into "bleeding edge," so as far as I know, both are valid expressions for the latest-and-greatest-and-not-yet-fully-baked.

Oh! cooooool.
I am still waiting for Microsoft to send me my Xbox back.
Unbox sucks for the following reasons:
1) Slow downloads.
2) If you're renting, you can only download to one device (so we can't watch it in the living room and then pick up in the bedroom)
3) Again, if renting, once you start watching the movie, you only get 24 hours to finish. That means if we only have time to start watching movies at 10:30pm and we only get through one half of the movie, we have to make a special case to watch the rest before 10:30pm the next day.
4) It's not cheaper enough than our local video store (which is a quick jaunt away) to justify the annoyances above. For
Oops, it didn't like the open bracket. I meant to say for less than $1 more I can take a quick jaunt down to our local video store where I can pick up a DVD that I can keep for several days and watch in any room.
That's totally 100% weak. I'm all about unlimited-use, unlimited-option subscription services these days.
In practice I've noticed that the dowloaded movies on the 360 (current form) last longer than 24hrs. Furthermore, if you're acount alows for unlimited downloads though out the month (ie netflix) what stops you from re-downloading it if you missed the second half?
I'm with Dan on the 100% unlimited use option. For me personaly even if I go a month with out watching any of the netflix movies in my queue it's still cheaper than paying a one day late fee to blockbuster.
I think Shippy's point is that Unbox makes you pay twice if you want to watch the second half. Netflix doesn't, since you can watch that second half for free at any time.
