Yeah, I've been getting frequent HTTP 500'd, myself.
The 500 is from my webhost timing out the Perl scripts that power Movable Type. I'm not sure when during the publishing procedure the timeout usually occurs, but I have never seen a case where a 500 happens and the comment is not published. It's weird.

You outta just take out the error messge. It certainly does seem to take a while to submit - which is why i'd assume it was timing out.
