The island
nation of Kauai suffers from an infestation of ... chickens. Practically everywhere you go, you'll find at least a handful of chickens wandering around and making a ton of noise. They reportedly outnumber the island's human inhabitants.
I haven't yet found an explanation why they're everywhere—besides, of course, the explanation that rapidly introducing lots of foreign species to a long-isolated island ecosystem will surely yield all manner of ecological oddity, including an apparent overpopulation of chicken.
Also note that they seem to be tame enough not to be afraid of my bodacious foot funk.
