This is the shifter. It's only got one low setting, "L." Usually I expect at least a "2" or, ideally, separate controls for overdrive and the lower gears.

But the thing is that "L" actually does exactly what you (or I?) expect it to: it shifts into the lowest appropriate gear for the current speed, which means that you don't have to worry about undershifting at speed, nor do you have to worry about bumping up to the next gear when using these settings to haul butt.

It took a little getting used to, but it actually worked pretty well.
