Alfas over here

| | Comments (3)

Alfa Romeo hasn't sold cars stateside since 1995, but rumors of their return have been circulating across the internets for a few years now. Originally slated for 2007 (and confirmed by savior of all things Fiat and all-around übercoolguy Sergio Marchionne) the date has since been pushed back year-by-year until this minor speed-bump in some Miami housing markets, at which point it got shoved to 2011. As someone who loves the shapes of (nearly) all Alfas, this has displeased me to no end.

Although I guess it's a good thing, since the moment they drop onto our shores I'll be immediately tempted to buy a Brera which is both incredibly gorgeous and sure to disappoint because someone forgot which wheels should be the ones receiving the power.

But whatever. I'm still watching the clock count down and an immensely jealous of those of you living a-broad in a land where you can actually buy these machines.

I'm looking forward to the Fiat 500. I couldn't help but start liking that car after the Abarth version showed up on Top Gear this past season. I just hope Chrysler doesn't screw it up.

I can send you one if you want, but I'll have to cross the channel if you want one with the steering wheel on the traditional side. Since the £ is at its weakest to the $ in 23 years, now would be the time to do something like that. You can even bump up the 8C so you aren't being towed around by your front wheels.

Totally. Although, I'm not sure if we'll ever get the 500—it's a little small for our market and the Punto may be a better match. Of course, you can but a SMART in the US now.

Yes please make a trip to the mainland to find one with the wheel where Napoleon god intended.
