We saw The Wrestler at the local luxury theater last Saturday evening. Interest in (or hell, even knowledge of) wrestling is absolutely not required to enjoy this film.
Those of you who have seen Pi or Requiem for a Dream will appreciate that The Wrestler was directed by uberawesomeman Darren Aronofsky.
There wasn't enough action or special effects to absolutely demand a theater viewing (if you miss it, you could probably watch it at home without losing much), but it is absolutely adequate for a good night out.

is it more like Pi or more like Requiem?
Now that I think about it, the most accurate statement is "neither." Except for the part where Aronofsky makes incredible films, in which case it's just like both.
But to answer your question, the distance to Requiem is a little shorter than the distance to Pi.

Ah. I loved Pi, and have seen it numerous times. I saw Requiem once, thought it was incredible, and I have no real desire to ever see it again. At least, not in the foreseeable future. I'll give it a shot though.
I really wanted to see that. I'll have to treck over to the next town to catch it, because it was only in theaters here for a week and I was in Birmingham for that weekend. Its hard to wait for stuff here because they are so far behind in movie releases. Based on movies I purchased or received for Christmas in the US and the release dates here, they are generally 2 months back.
You'll have to wait for it to hit Betamax.
