The best radar speed sign ever

The local police department has temporarily placed a trailered radar speed sign up the road from us. This is the best thing ever.

It's not because people speed on that stretch of road. In fact, far from it. It's a 35 zone that cuts straight through a residential section, and despite the near-total lack of speed-limit signs, the biggest problem (by far) are people who think it's a 25mph zone. I can't express how frustrating it is to be stuck behind someone doing 23 in a 35.

Wait yes I can. It's incredibly frustrating.

So the sign is awesome. It has a big stinking 35mph sign on top. I hope that educates some of the drivers in the area.

P.S. Be sure to read the safety of pedestrians section of that wikipedia article.

looks like 16 in a 40 to me. have you ever tried running in front of one of these things to see if it'll register?

You can also see sky in the photograph I used, which immediately disqualifies it from being taken anywhere in western Washington.

I haven't run down there now that the sign is up. Maybe today.

I have seen a few versions of these speed display signs on www.radarspeeddisplays.com we use one in our neighborhood and it has help slow traffic. You can even get statistics ad charts to show when speeders came through, their speeds and ave speeds.
