The guys at NAPA don't ask questions like that

I'm now completely convinced that the local auto parts store is only good for buying hub caps and steering wheel covers. I went to the parts desk earlier tonight and asked for some vacuum hose, and the guy behind the desk said,

What? Vacuum what? Let me look it up in the computer. What year is your car?

I give up. I thought I could rely on the local store for the simple stuff but it looks like even that isn't possible. NAPA is a longer drive but when I'm there, I don't have to put up with this nonsense.

P.S. Note that this is the same store that stopped carrying wiper refills a while back.

P.P.S. Just so it's clear the guy at the counter didn't just misunderstand me, I actually had a section of vacuum hose for sizing, and the guy successfully navigated to the "hose" section of his parts database before giving up.

I think its important to support the more competent parts store. If you buy from the idiots you're only fueling the problem - how ever more convent their location may be.

To be fair, they are still my hookup for plastic window fairings and LED windshield sprayer nozzles.

Sounds all too familiar. I've also noticed the NAPA guys know what they are doing, but you have to pay the price. It also seems that NAPA doesnt keep the same number of parts in stock as the other guys, be it useful parts or the LED windshield sprayer nozzles.
