Once you remove moss from your lawn, it's helpful to thrown down some lime all over the place to raise the pH of the soil (reducing its acidity). An overview of all of this is here.
Anyway I picked up a 40lb. sack of dolomitic lime and tossed it all over the front lawn. You can see some of it in the photo above.
And since Raven asked, here is another macro shot of the lawn, but taken before the lime went down. It's about the same...but a whole lot different than it was with the moss.

Yep. Topsoil and reseed and it's all good. Aeration may help, too.
I'm planning on waiting to do anything past liming, since we're likely to landscape part of the front yard this summer and it doesn't really make sense to redo the whole lawn just to rip part of it up.
