I wore my heart rate monitor today while snowboarding. We were on the slopes for a total of four hours—including some back-country trudging through the snow—and in all I racked up a whopping 5667 burned calories.
...although I forgot to turn the watch off after the run, so this included the static burn while sitting in the car. And the time spent eating lunch. And so forth.

I wore a pedometer for a while, and I could easily accumulate 300 steps during my commute to work.
So what you're saying is that eating lunch is a great way to burn calories? Awesome, I'm all set then.

Proud to be an American.

Yes. The only evidence I have collected is that eating a beef sandwich cooked at a Texan-run BBQ joint run out of two old school buses on the side of the road contributes to said caloric burn.
