We went to the Bellevue Arts Museum today (...for the first time).

One of the exhibits was a show of Michael Petersen's work called Evolution | Revolution, which is all amazing stuff. After achieving mastery of lathe-turned woodwork (evolution), he decided to start over by carving holes into wood using chainsaws (revolution). This is pretty remarkable stuff, and is shown at right.

We also saw Bruce Metcalf's miniatures, which are all incredibly detailed and expressive. My favorite piece was Pewter Peanut, which was indeed a whimsically wheeled big pewter peanut next to a cardboard box proclaiming it to be a "one-of-a-kind art toy." Awesome.
