Actually, not at all stumped. It only took me about 30 minutes to remove 80% of this tree stump, and the rest is coming out pretty easily with a bit of digging and a pick axe.
But I'll let the trash guys empty my compost bin before I fill it up again.
For comparison, here's an ancient (ancient!) shot of this stump ... and my lawn before it was renovated.

It looks like it was cut too low to get a chain around it and use the Ford to get it out. Luckily, you live in a country with stores which sell black powder somewhere between the frozen tv dinners and Hannah Montana bicycles.
I think it was old and decayed enough that going through the effort of wrapping a chain around it would just have resulted in a busted up stump top. I didn't really know that until I got halfway through tearing it apart, but now thtat I did, I'm glad I didn't waste time with the chain.
Definitely crossed my mind before I started, though.

Sump Grinder. They make 'em.
It would take me longer than 30 minutes to just rent a grinder, let alone use it (and clean up after it).
